Instructor Name: Kevin Russell
Company: Herschen Family Entertainment Corporate
Bio: I started as an electrical engineer working for Arrow Dynamics back in 1988.  After almost 6 years and 12 roller coasters, as well as 2 monorails, I moved to Poma and the ski industry, where I designed, built and commissioned the control systems on a number of chairlifts.  I also did the controls for an aerial tram and Skyrail, which at the time was the longest continuous ropeway in the world.  I then moved to Paramount Parks, where I was their corporate engineer for 10 years, working with various LIM launched roller coasters, various conventional and prototypical rides, including the first Flying Dutchman, and the Son of Beast.  I also worked with upgrading all of their single PLC control systems to dual PLC.   During this time, I was active with ASTM, and worked on the controls section of F2291.  When Paramount was acquired, I left the industry for 6 years, and worked in the power industry.  While there were a couple of interesting projects involving 8000 HP VFD’s I didn’t enjoy the work.  During my time in the power industry, I did some moonlighting for a few parks, including Dollywood.  In 2014, Dollywood decided they needed more of my time, and I joined Herschend Family Entertainment as the Corporate Controls Engineer.  I am also an At-Large Member of the ASTM F24 Executive Committee. body { background: #FFF; } body { background: #FFF; } body { background: #FFF; } body { background: #FFF; }
