Instructor Name: Gregory George
Company: Rail Mechanical Services
Bio: My interest in hydraulics started while growing up on a dairy farm in Upstate New York.  Most of our equipment had some form of hydraulic function.  I studied Agricultural Engineering in college which gave me more experience in hydraulics and machine design. I took a course in hydraulics and this left me with a desire to know more.   After leaving agriculture, I went to work for a manufacturer of hydraulically powered machine tools.   This was an introduction into more advanced controls and actuators.  As I learned the background of these components, I became very interested in knowing more.  My manufacturing job led me into the waste industry where I dealt with commissioning and servicing trucks, compactors and balers.  It was during this time that I met an engineer in the theme park industry and he helped me earn a spot on the JAWS team for a major ride manufacturer at Universal Studios.   I started learning hydraulic motion control as it applies to animation and moved from the manufacturer’s side of the business, to the user’s side.  Since then, I have worked at several theme parks (including 15 years at Disney World) as well as two ride manufacturers. I have been in this industry for over 25 years with several roles in sustaining engineering, project engineering.  I have designed many hydraulic and pneumatic systems for theme park rides as well as show equipment and special effects.    In 1994, I was introduced to the International Fluid Power Society.  Their training and certification programs have made a big difference in my career.  I have obtained many hydraulic and pneumatic certifications, and now provide training and testing for many levels of hydraulic certification. body { background: #FFF; }
